JUAN MARTINEZ
Chief Financial Officer
Juan Martinez brings more than 30 years of financial leadership to his role as Chief Financial Officer of Codina Partners, with a career spanning private philanthropy, media, hospitality, and public accounting. As CFO, he leads the firm’s Accounting and Finance Departments, providing strategic direction. He works closely with Executive Chairman Armando Codina and Chief Executive Officer Ana-Marie Codina on the firm’s investment strategies and the financial execution of those strategies across its real estate development and property management portfolio. He joined Codina Partners from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, where he served as Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer, overseeing the financial operations of one of the nation’s largest private foundations and a multibillion-dollar investment portfolio across global equities, fixed income, private partnerships, hedge funds, and derivatives.
At Knight, Martinez built a reputation as a builder as much as a steward of capital. He created an early-stage enterprise fund that allowed the foundation to take equity positions in technology companies aligned with its mission, leading investments in more than 50 companies and a portfolio of program-related investments in early-stage ventures. A frequent national speaker and a voice quoted in the press on diversifying investment management, he has testified before the U.S. House of Representatives on this matter. He also served on the foundation’s Executive Committee and reported directly to its Board of Trustees and CEO. His earlier career, including financial planning at Telemundo Group, consulting and interim controllership at Pollo Tropical, an audit career at Arthur Andersen, and even a turn as a film producer, reflects a rare range of industries.
A Certified Public Accountant in the State of Florida since 1992, Martinez completed the Advanced Management Program at the Wharton School of Business and holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees in accounting from Florida International University. He has served on numerous boards, including the FIU Foundation, the Council on Foundations, The Miami Foundation, and ViewLift, and was previously named South Florida Business Journal’s nonprofit CFO of the Year. In 2025, both FIU and Miami Dade College honored him as a distinguished alumnus, a fitting recognition for a leader whose career has been deeply rooted in the South Florida community Codina Partners has helped shape.
